Organization before arrival

Thanks to our competent support, the qualified nursing staff experience extensive security. Even before you enter Germany, we make sure that all the necessary documents have been collected and that important steps have already been taken.

Our system works as follows: Potential nurses from abroad register on the online portal of our website or visit us at one of our locations in several countries around the world. You can already ask us any questions here and receive extensive advice that includes all the information you need. Applicants must be able to prove their knowledge of German at language level B1. Only the Goethe certificate, the ÖSD certificate and the TELC certificate are permitted for this.

All necessary documents from the nurse must be translated into German and certified by the German embassy. We are also available to provide support for the translation if required. The applicant then sends all of the documents to us by post. Then we will submit the application to check the equivalence of a foreign educational qualification in a health care occupation and issue the permit to use the professional title together with the necessary documents to the respective state authority. This usually sends us the deficit notification, which contains all the deficits identified, be they theoretical or practical. The deficit notification is absolutely necessary for the visa application,

because the lack of experience requires the attendance of a job-related preparatory course (adaptation measure with subsequent start of work), which is the main reason for the entry of the nurse.

At the same time, we contact medical institutions and refer the nursing staff to them based on their application documents. CareLend GmbH works in cooperation with the Sana Clinic in Borna, which has asked for our active support. The medical staff from abroad is then given an employment contract to take up a job subject to social insurance contributions as an assistant in the care sector in order to take part in an adjustment measure for professional recognition.

Agreement of an adaptation measure

After our company has contacted the respective medical facility and has organized an employment contract as an assistant in the care sector, the adjustment measure is agreed with the facility and the state authority. Further descriptions and details can be found in the appendix to the adjustment measure.

Organization of accommodation

CareLend GmbH supports the international nursing staff 100% in organizing accommodation for them. The employees of our team deal extensively with the search for suitable apartments and shared apartments and take care of all matters with the respective real estate company. Cultural, religious and political aspects are of course given special consideration when organizing shared apartments.

Obtaining entry permit

After receiving all the necessary documents, the nurse will make an appointment with our help at the German embassy to apply for a visa. Here, too, we offer the applicant professional advice in preparation for the Visa interview.

The KSV as the responsible state authority (Saxony)

The Municipal Social Association of Saxony is responsible for the procedure for the recognition of health professions in Saxony. This also relates to the recognition of foreign professional qualifications in non-academic health professions. The qualifications of international specialists are checked for equivalence. As a rule, no equivalency is determined, so the applicant has the option of two options:

.to take part in the knowledge test immediately or
.Attending an adaptation measure at a certified training provider in order to eliminate the theoretical and practical deficits that have been identified.
KSV Sachsen then provides a deficit notification, which is necessary for the start of the adjustment measure and receipt of the nurse’s visa.

The steps after entry

Continuation of the language course

CareLend ensures that foreign nurses learn the German language up to level B2 and higher in order to ensure successful integration in the long term. Our company was already certified by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees as a course provider for learning the German language. We have several locations worldwide that function as language schools and where DaF (German as a Foreign Language) lecturers work with us. In addition, we support qualified members of our team in their training as DaF lecturers so that, in addition to teaching the German language, they are also available to advise the nursing staff in all other matters.

The teaching of the language should cover four main areas:

When attaining language level B2, the participant is able to act linguistically and communicatively in work and learning processes as well as in various social contexts.

The nursing staff are given knowledge in the following areas of activity:

Initial interviews, findings, anamnesis, admission interview
Treatment plan, care plan

Supervising, accompanying, advising
Reports, handover discussions, case discussions
The content of the job-related language courses is based on the learning objectives of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees.

Start of the adaptation measure

Cooperation with the Sana Klinikum Borna

The Sana Kliniken Leipziger Land GmbH and the nursing school Sana Kliniken Leipziger Land have agreed to cooperate with our company CareLend. Together we want to create a joint program for the linguistic and technical training and further education of foreign nurses with qualifications obtained in their home country in non-academic medical professions in Saxony. The aim of this program (“adjustment measure for foreign nursing staff”) is to eliminate all deficits that KSV Sachsen has identified.

The Sana Klinikum, together with meineagentur24 and CareLend, designs curricula for the adaptation measures based on the regulations and orders of the state authority in Saxony. This adjustment measure for nursing staff is organized and carried out at various Sana Group locations in Saxony. Borna was chosen as the main location for the adaptation measure. There is a tendency to transfer the pilot project in Borna to other cities nationwide.

Start of work as an assistant in the care sector

The practical part of the recognition measures takes place in the Sana Kliniken Leipziger Land as well as in outpatient care areas. The relevant specialist areas, e.g. internal medicine, surgery, geriatrics or neurology, emerge from the individual deficit notification of the municipal social association of Saxony. The practical activities during the adaptation course focus on the planning, organization and implementation of patient care, including care documentation. Knowledge of how to participate in medical diagnostics, therapy or rehabilitation measures is imparted. At the beginning of the practice, you will get to know the structures of the clinic, ward processes, duty roster organization and documentation. Nursing tasks, such as personal hygiene, assistance with food intake, prophylaxis, Health observation or hygiene measures are accompanied, among other things, by qualified practitioners who meet the requirements of Section 2, Paragraph 2, Clause 4 or Clause 6 of the Training and Examination Regulations for professions in nursing. Furthermore, there is close coordination and cooperation with regard to accompanying the course participants, the teachers of the medical vocational school, the training center and the practical work stations.

Content of the APM

The total number of hours of adaptation at the Sana Clinic is currently 1174 hours. The process consists of a total of 12 modules:

Participate in the development and implementation of rehabilitation concepts and integrate them into care activities
Align care activities in a person-related manner

Align care activities with quality criteria, legal frameworks as well as economic and ecological principles
Contribute to medical diagnostics and therapy
Take immediate life-sustaining measures until the doctor arrives
Develop professional self-image and learn to cope with professional demands
Influence the development of the nursing profession in a social context
Working together in groups and teams

The curriculum is intended to contribute to ensuring an adequate quality of the adaptation courses for foreign nurses in Saxony. It defines the thematic framework with a focus on the specific learning requirements. At the same time, the content is geared towards the legal and administrative requirements in connection with the recognition procedure under the Nursing Act for nurses from abroad. The task associated with the curriculum is to design the measures in such a way that, building on their existing nursing skills, they can provide the foreign nursing staff with a level of knowledge and skills that is equivalent to German health and nursing training. It is also important that

Examination and receipt of the professional license

The adaptation course, together with the final interview, serves to establish that the applicant has the knowledge and skills required to practice the profession of health care professional (course objective). It is carried out in accordance with the course objective in the form of theoretical and practical lessons, practical training with theoretical instruction or both in the Sana Kliniken Leipziger Land in accordance with Section 4 Paragraph 2 Clause 1 or Clause 3 of the Nursing Act and concludes with an examination of the content of the adaptation course away. Practical instructors who meet the requirements of Section 2, Paragraph 2, Clause 4 or Clause 6, participate in the theoretical instruction to an appropriate extent. The successful completion of the adaptation course must be proven by a certificate.

The certificate is issued when it is determined in the examination, which is carried out in the form of a final interview, that the applicant has achieved the course objective. The final interview is conducted by a subject examiner according to § 4 Paragraph 1 Clause 1 Number 3 together with the teacher or the practical instructor according to Clause 3 who supervised the applicant during the course. If the final interview shows that the applicant has not successfully completed the adaptation course, the subject examiner decides in accordance with Section 4 Paragraph 1 Clause 1 Number 3 in the presence of the teacher participating in the interview or the practical instructor on an appropriate extension of the adaptation course.

An extension is only permitted once. The extension is followed by a further final discussion. If, even after the result of this interview, the certificate according to sentence 5 cannot be issued, the adaptation course may only be repeated once.

Employment as a nurse

After receiving the professional and work permit, the nurse from abroad can now also take up a job as a nurse in Germany that is subject to social insurance contributions. Compared to the previous work as an “assistant in the care sector”, the remuneration has now also changed. CareLend GmbH looks after the nursing staff for a further 2 years in all matters. It is particularly important to us to integrate migrants into German life in the long term.
